It is finished.
Oh, it is finished.
Finished. Finished. Finished.
Copies are now winging their way to a few lovely people who are going to check it over for me and tell me what they think. This is the hardest part. A couple of these people are friends, and it is definately much harder to share wtih friends than strangers.
Now the book is being shelves for a couple of weeks. Then, with a clear head and hopefully some good feedback, I will do a final edit for grammar and layout, and find any last bits I will inevitably hate, and onto formatting for the Kindle.
What am I doing for the next two weeks? I’m starting on the next one. It is already outlined at 50k, time to fill in the gaps. I must be mad. Or, if I don’t want to write about damn cats anymore, (they haunt my dreams! Seriously, I keep dreaming there is a black cat sitting on the end of my bed. And that scenario will be making it into the horror book I am thinking of writing.) then I have another story to work on, with blessedly human characters.
I am also going to spend the time updating this page, doing a couple of illustrations and, if I am lucky, having a couple of days without any writing, drawing, or worrying.
It is important to treat ones’ self after a period of hard work. I think when I get this baby out on the Kindle, I am going to treat myself to a pet lizard. I used to keep and breed various species, but at present I have not got anything at all in the house (asides from the other half, but he ain’t no reptile). Yes, I think that will do rather nicely.
I want one of these. I don’t think that will be happening, somehow.

Congratulations on finishing your book. I’m impressed that you’re planning on heading straight into another book. It’s probably the best way to keep the momentum up.
Interesting purchase you’re planning to make, but why not! A lizard sounds great. π

Thanks – I was quite fortunate in that I rattled off three outlines in one fell swoop (over about six weeks) so I have something to play with. I have since learnt that you are not meant to do this, as if you can’t sell the first one, you have wasted your time with the others (oops) however, that is slightly moot with self publishing.
However, I also have a completely unrelated story in the works too…
I am a reptileaholic (is that a word?) so watch this space, there will be lizards.

If reptileaholic isn’t a word it should be π

Good grief, why would you possibly want to write about cats? They are evil creatures that should be exiled to a small island a million miles away, starting with the two that live in my house. I posted about cats being the source of all human criminality, didn’t you read it? You should, then you’d realise what a threat they are.
Apart from that, I like your blog hehehehehe

Ah, my apologies. I do like cats (But I am a dog person, honest). I picked cats as I find them facinating (and it is hard to make lizards into central characters).
Do not worry, my next story is all to do with humans. And I actually have a concept for a doggy story – so you never know!
PS -I was bitten very badly by a cat in my previous job and am still carrying the scars. I didn’t like cats much that day either.

Thank you! And even if the book flops, there shall be a consolation in reptile shape.
Your blog is really interesting, I look forward to reading more!

Have no clue what lizard that is, but it sure does look beautiful. I would love more pets, but as I’m now at 13 (excluding the boyfriend), I cannot be persuaded by the cuteness that is reptiles and little critters.
Best of luck, and hope you get that lizard!

The lizard in the pic is a Lace Monitor. Quite a big ‘un. What lizards do you have at present?
I used to keep Leopard geckos and assorted amphibians. Would love lots, but no space at present!

looks like one of the monitors – I forget which. I think we sold one or two like this when we had the pet store. Probably not too hard to get, but they need a lot of room and, as you know, I’m sure, a LOT of heat!
Congratulations on finishing!

Lace monitor!
They are easy to get here in the UK, which is actually quite distressing as they make terrible pets for the average person, but I would happily give up a room for one.
